Typescript with manuscript annotations and corrections in pen and pencil in the hand of the author. The address, which was delivered to the medical students of St. Thomas's Hospital on the occasion of the distribution of prizes, includes Arnold's comments on the history and value of the medical profession, on his support of women in medicine, and on his stance against vivisection. The leaves are mounted on pages of a bound notebook from which numerous pages preceding the address have been cut.
